台北市目前有近4000戶公宅，原先依照規定有4成需保留給弱勢族群來承租，但台北市議員王鴻薇發現，目前在公宅裡頭，僅有10.3%為弱勢所承租，她呼籲市府應做好資源分配，將這些資源留給最需要幫助的人。
王鴻薇15日表示，自己日前收到一位低收入戶單親媽媽的陳情，對方抱怨自己在北市租屋卻四處碰壁，有些房東對她們的身分有所顧慮，後來將希望轉向台北市公營住宅，沒想到不但沒有缺額，讓她們大感失望。
王鴻薇表示，目前台北市公宅分出租國宅及公營住宅兩種，其中出租國宅達3784戶、公營住宅184戶，合計3968戶。前者規定必需提供40%配額，給弱勢族群來承租，但實際達成率只有10.8%。至於公營住宅更是沒有任何一戶提供給弱勢族群。王鴻薇直言，市府這樣做法，讓弱勢族群租屋該何去何從？
對議員批評，北市都發局解釋，出租國宅保留4成給弱勢承租的規定，是民國89年才頒布，現在承租戶幾乎都是在此辦法實施前就已入住，因此按規定，必需能等他們搬出後，才能夠騰出空間給新住戶。
此外，盡管出租國宅有40%需保留給弱勢族群承租，但適用對象還包括原住民、低收入戶、榮民、單親及三代同堂等家庭。公營住宅則配合助妳好孕及年輕化政策，以中低收入青年族群為優先扶助對象，這樣的結果，也壓縮弱勢族群的承租空間。
王鴻薇認為，很多人排到入住，通常要等至少9年，市府應該設法廣設公宅，擴大供給面，並在未來興建公營住宅時，提供一定比例房舍給予弱勢族群，把這些有限的社會資源，拿來幫助最需要幫助的人。
