【謝岱穎／綜合報導】紅雀22歲菜鳥投手瓦卡(Michael Wacha)雖然在6局下挨了紅襪「老爹」歐提茲(David Ortiz)的兩分全壘打，但他主投6局也只失這2分，紅雀則在7局上靠著對手守備上的嚴重疏失一口氣攻下3分逆轉，終場紅雀以4比2獲勝，在7戰4勝的世界大賽中追成1勝1敗，瓦卡則成為史上第一位在季後賽拿下4勝的菜鳥投手。

除了4勝創紀錄之外，瓦卡被老爹轟2分彈之前，也已經累積連續18局無失分，同樣是季後賽的菜鳥紀錄，按照先發輪值，他可能會在第5或6戰再度先發，有機會挑戰季後賽第5勝。

關鍵的7局上，紅雀在1出局攻佔滿壘，卡本特(Matt Carpenter)敲出左外野高飛犧牲打，先追成2比2，但球在回傳時捕手先漏接，讓一壘跑者攻上二壘，沒想到補位的紅襪後援投手布瑞斯洛(Craig Breslow)在傳三壘時竟將球直接傳進看台，免費奉送紅雀超前分，接著老將貝爾川(Carlos Beltran)敲出適時安打，攻下第4分。

世界大賽第3戰將在後天早上8點轉戰聖路易的布許球場，由紅襪老將皮維(Jake Peavy)先發對上紅雀二年級生凱利(Joe Kelly)。
