美國加州南部多個城市的民眾11月6日晚在天空中看見一個火球。美國國家氣象局稱，當地時間6日晚上8點開始出現有人目擊火球的消息。從聖塔巴巴拉到聖地牙哥都有目擊火球的報導。

據綜合新聞網報導，11月初，金牛座流星雨最為活躍，因此這一火球很可能與此有關。據天文學家介紹，，金牛座流星雨通常不會帶來大量可見流星，但有些流星極其明亮，看起來可能會像火球。

儘管科學家已出面釋疑，但『火球』事件仍在推特等社交網站引起熱議，不過幾乎沒有人拍下當時的情景。
