美國馬丁案越演越烈！兇手齊默曼經法院陪審團表決後獲判無罪，引起美國民眾不滿，截至目前為止，已有100多個城市民眾上街示威抗議，種族與槍枝議題再度浮上檯面。
綜合各媒體報導，去(2012)年2月，社區警衛齊默曼開槍射死沒有攻擊武器的黑人青年馬丁，引發美國人對種族及槍枝管制問題激烈的爭論。
對此，美國總統歐巴馬發表看法，他表示馬丁案的發生每一個美國人都需要反省，此事件容易讓人聯想到美國人經歷種族歧視，從一種難以忘記經歷的歷史來看，非裔美國人都會感到沉痛，35年前的我可能會跟他一樣。
針對令人不滿的判決結果，美國行動網路組織民權人士沙普頓發起了全美的抗議示威活動，芝加哥、洛杉磯、紐約、邁阿密等超過100個城市，數千名民眾聚集在聯邦法院前的廣場進行抗議，美國知名歌星Jay-Z與其妻子也參與其中。
馬丁的母親在紐約的集會上一度淚崩感謝大家的支持。父親則表示此判決讓人感覺受審的人是馬丁，而不是齊默曼。沙普頓對示威民眾喊話，我們要試著改變法律，不要再有第二個馬丁案。
