Apple 將在 10 月 22 日舉行新品發佈會，知情人向 AllThingsD 透露， Apple 計畫在此次發佈會上更新 iPad 產品線，已經發佈的 Mac Pro 桌面電腦和 OS X Mavericks 系統也將在發佈會上露面。

即將在兩周後面世的 iPad 5 採用類似 iPad mini 的窄邊框設計，搭載 64 位元 A7 處理器，鏡頭性能也會有所提升。第二代 iPad mini 預計將升級到視網膜顯示螢幕，處理器也可能使用最新的 A7 晶片。儘管傳言四起，但目前仍不清楚新 iPad 是否會採用 Touch ID 指紋感應器和香檳金背殼。

知情人不願透露發佈會的召開地點，AllThingsD 猜測去年 iPad mini 的誕生地——位於聖約瑟的加州劇場——今年可能會遭到拋棄，剩下的只有 Apple 庫比蒂諾總部的大禮堂以及舊金山的芳草地藝術中心了。
